BREAKING: Two 19-Year-Olds Arrested in Mesa Shooting Investigation — iSkyNews.com

MESA, Ariz. — What initially appeared to be a road rage shooting near Greenfield Road and U.S. 60 on Sunday has now been linked to an earlier shooting in Mesa, according to new information released by the Mesa Police Department.

Police announced Monday that four people have been arrested in connection with the October 18 shooting, including three adults and a 17-year-old juvenile.

Investigators say the individuals involved were gang members who already knew one another. Detectives also determined that the confrontation was connected to a separate shooting that took place in Mesa on September 22, 2026.

Four Arrested Following Shooting

Mesa Police identified three adults and one juvenile who were taken into custody following the investigation.

Andrew Bastida Martinez, 21, faces the most serious charges, including aggravated assault, a Class 3 felony, along with disorderly conduct and endangerment, both Class 6 felonies.

Martinez was also the person hospitalized following Sunday's shooting. Police confirmed he was later released from the hospital and booked into jail.

Asael Lopez Vargas, 21, was arrested on a charge of endangerment, a Class 6 felony.

  • Elias Rebollar Portillo, 20, faces a misdemeanor charge of false reporting to law enforcement.
  • A 17-year-old juvenile was also arrested and faces felony charges of endangerment and disorderly conduct.

Investigators Connect Shooting to September Incident

One of the biggest developments in the case is the connection to a shooting that happened nearly a month earlier.

According to Mesa Police, Sunday's confrontation stemmed from a September 22 shooting involving individuals who were already familiar with one another.

While police have confirmed the connection between the two incidents, they have not released further details about what led to Sunday's confrontation or the specific circumstances linking the shootings.

iSkyNews.com previously reported on the September investigation, which resulted in the arrests of two 19-year-olds.

Police Say No Suspects Remain Outstanding

Mesa Police confirmed that all suspects connected to Sunday's shooting have been accounted for and there are no outstanding suspects being sought in connection with the incident.

However, the investigation is not over. Detectives are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and its connection to the September incident.

Police have directed anyone seeking additional case information to publicly available court records.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
