TEMPE, AZ — Tempe Fire Medical Rescue crews responded Wednesday night to a reported high-rise fire on the 16th floor of a building located at 704 S. Myrtle Avenue.
According to officials, the fire suppression system activated and kept the blaze under control until firefighters arrived. Crews quickly contained the flames to a single apartment unit.
“No injuries to people or pets were reported, which is the best outcome we could hope for in a situation like this,” Tempe Fire said in a statement.
While the fire was confined to one apartment, significant water damage impacted multiple floors of the building. Approximately 30 residents were displaced as a result. Tempe Fire Medical Rescue is working closely with the building’s management company to arrange alternative housing for those affected.

Firefighters from Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Guadalupe assisted Tempe crews in locating and extinguishing the fire. Officials praised the coordinated effort, which ensured a safe and efficient response to the high-rise incident.
Tempe Fire Medical Rescue investigators are actively working to determine the cause of the blaze.
