Traffic Stop in Mesa Leads to Drug Bust and Multiple Arrests
MESA, AZ – What began as a speeding violation on the highway ended with three people behind bars and a car full of drugs off the streets.
An Arizona Highway Patrol State Trooper observed a black Chevrolet Malibu with out-of-state plates traveling 90 mph in a 65 mph zone westbound on AZ-202. According to DPS, the driver suddenly made multiple unsafe lane changes, weaving from right to left before merging onto AZ-101.
The Trooper activated lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle exited the freeway and came to a stop along McKellips Road, where additional Troopers arrived to assist.
During the investigation, authorities discovered three occupants inside the vehicle, along with an alarming assortment of illegal substances. A search revealed methamphetamine, ketamine, heroin, amphetamine, Xanax, and fentanyl.
All three suspects were arrested and booked on multiple charges, including possession, transportation, and sales of dangerous drugs. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
