TEMPE, AZ — A construction zone on US-60 near Mill Road turned dangerous yesterday morning when a fatigued driver in a pickup truck collided with an attenuator truck, then struck a box truck, sending five people to the hospital.

Investigators say the attenuator truck was active in the HOV lane with lights flashing, collecting barricades when the pickup driver admitted to driving while tired. The crash ejected both the pickup driver and a box truck passenger—neither were wearing seatbelts.
