Kissimmee: Deputy-Involved Shooting Under Investigation Following Mental Health Crisis Call

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A deputy-involved shooting is under investigation after an Osceola County Sheriff's deputy responded to a reported mental health crisis early Wednesday morning in Kissimmee.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched shortly after 2:00 a.m. on July 8, 2026, to 4704 Marcos Circle after receiving a 911 call regarding a family member who was experiencing a mental health crisis and was possibly armed with a weapon.

When a deputy arrived at the residence, a physical altercation occurred between the deputy and the adult male suspect. During the encounter, the suspect was shot.

The suspect was airlifted by medical helicopter to a nearby hospital. Authorities said he was conscious and alert at the time of transport.

The suspect injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.

He is 51 years old and a resident of where the 911 call was made.

The deputy involved was not injured, and no other injuries were reported.

iSkyNews.com observed a large law enforcement presence at the scene as investigators secured the area. Osceola County Fire Rescue established a landing zone for the helicopter before the suspect was flown to the hospital.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is responding to the scene and will lead the investigation into the deputy-involved shooting, which is standard procedure in Florida.
