TEMPE, AZ (June 13, 2025) — With several demonstrations expected to take place across Tempe this weekend, the Tempe Police Department has released a public safety advisory encouraging peaceful assembly and urging residents to take precautions against extreme heat.
In an official statement, the department reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the public’s First Amendment rights, noting:
“We fully support and respect the public’s right to peacefully assemble and express diverse viewpoints.”
Tempe Police say officers will be actively monitoring demonstration areas to help ensure a safe environment for all participants, bystanders, and community members.
With triple-digit temperatures expected—reaching up to 111 degrees Fahrenheit—Tempe Police are coordinating with Tempe Fire Medical Rescue to help prevent heat-related emergencies. Protesters and attendees are strongly encouraged to take the following precautions:
- Stay hydrated and drink water frequently
- Take breaks in shaded areas
- Wear light-colored, breathable clothing
- Watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion (such as dizziness, nausea, and fatigue)
- Look out for one another and seek medical help if needed
Tempe officials emphasized that their top priority is maintaining a peaceful and respectful atmosphere, while also prioritizing public safety.
“We thank the community for working with us to ensure a safe weekend in Tempe,” the advisory concluded.
