Officials confirm 12 people were treated following a hazmat incident at the Radiance Clubhouse pool near Meridian and Radiance. Five patients (including 4 children and 1 adult) were transported to the hospital in stable and conscious condition.
The substance has now been identified as chlorine, and authorities do not believe the exposure was intentional. The situation was previously upgraded to a 2nd alarm HAZMAT due to the number of affected individuals.

APACHE JUNCTION, AZ (June 14, 2025) — A hazmat situation at the Radiance Clubhouse Community Center in Apache Junction prompted an urgent second alarm response Saturday morning after a yellow chemical leaked into a swimming pool, sending multiple children into medical distress.
According to Superstition Fire and Medical, crews were dispatched at 11:54 a.m. to 9875 S Reverence Road following a 911 call reporting that a yellow substance had entered the pool. Witnesses said children began coughing immediately upon exposure, and one child became unconscious.
Emergency responders quickly arrived on scene and upgraded the call to a second alarm hazmat due to the unknown nature of the substance and the number of affected individuals. A total of eleven pediatric patients were reported.
Hazmat teams worked swiftly to isolate the area, assess the chemical threat, and provide medical aid. The unconscious child was rushed to a nearby hospital. The condition of the other six children has not yet been released.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the source or identity of the yellow substance. The pool and surrounding community center area remain temporarily closed as the investigation continues.
