Pedestrian Killed, Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in SR-429 Crash

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A 26-year-old woman from Carrollton, Georgia, was killed and a 41-year-old Winter Garden motorcyclist was seriously injured in an overnight crash on State Road 429, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at approximately 12:47 a.m. on September 27, 2026, on southbound State Road 429 near mile marker 42 in Lake County.

According to FHP, a 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on SR-429 in the outside lane as it approached mile marker 42.

Troopers said the 26-year-old pedestrian was in the outside travel lane and directly in the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle then struck the pedestrian, according to the preliminary crash investigation.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. FHP said her next of kin had not yet been notified at the time of the press release.

The motorcycle rider, identified only as a 41-year-old man from Winter Garden, was transported to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital with serious injuries.

FHP reported that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The circumstances surrounding why the pedestrian was in the travel lane were not immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
