Mesa, AZ – A rollover accident at a busy intersection in Mesa sent one person to the hospital and injured several others on Sunday afternoon, according to emergency officials.

The crash occurred around 3:40 PM at the intersection of Signal Butte Road and University Drive. Two vehicles were involved—one of which flipped onto its roof, while the other sustained severe front-end damage.

Both the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) and Rural Metro Fire Department responded to the scene. Fire officials confirmed that multiple individuals were involved, with one person transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Others were assessed at the scene and declined transport.

Due to the crash, all westbound lanes of University Drive at Signal Butte were temporarily blocked while emergency crews worked to assist the injured and clear the wreckage.

Investigators are still determining the cause of the collision. No identities have been released at this time.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously and avoid distracted driving, especially at busy intersections.
