Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Train in Osceola County

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A man was killed Saturday evening after being struck by a train near Michigan Avenue and Garden Street in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at approximately 7:21 p.m. on October 3, 2026.
FHP said the train was traveling northbound on the railroad tracks just west of Michigan Avenue and approaching Garden Street when the conductor spotted an adult man walking north along the inside of the tracks.
Investigators said the man was directly in the train’s path.
The conductor attempted to stop the train by applying the emergency brake, but the train was unable to stop in time.
The front left portion of the train struck the pedestrian, according to FHP.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of the FHP release, the victim had not yet been positively identified. The Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to notify FHP once his identity is confirmed.
The 54-year-old train conductor, who is from Callahan, Florida, was not injured and remained at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
