MESA, Ariz. — A 55-year-old woman is facing a second-degree murder charge after police say she admitted to fatally stabbing her husband during an argument inside their Mesa apartment.
According to information provided directly to iSkyNews.com by the Mesa Police Department, officers responded at approximately 12:14 a.m. on August 6, 2026, to an apartment complex near South Gilbert Road and East Inverness Avenue.

Police said the incident began with a disturbing 911 call in which a man could be heard saying that he had been stabbed. No one responded to additional questions from the 911 operator, and an exact apartment number was not provided.
When officers arrived at the complex, they began attempting to determine where the call had originated. Officers reportedly heard noise coming from one of the apartments and encountered a woman as she exited the residence.
According to investigators, the woman had what appeared to be blood on her hands and clothing.
Officers Find Husband Suffering From Stab Wound
Officers entered the apartment and found a man suffering from a stab wound. Police immediately began lifesaving measures until Mesa Fire and Medical personnel arrived and took over his care.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police identified the victim as 54-year-old Kevin Windley.
During the investigation, officers also observed a knife inside the apartment with what appeared to be a red substance on its tip, according to Mesa Police.
Police: Wife Admitted to Stabbing Husband
Investigators identified the woman as 55-year-old Marcel Windley.
Police said Windley told investigators that she became angry during an argument with her husband and stabbed him with a knife.
She was subsequently arrested on a charge of second-degree murder under A.R.S. § 13-1104(A)(3).
Maricopa County jail booking information identifies the suspect by her full name, Marcel Clarissa Windley, and lists her under booking number G273090.
Records show Windley was arrested by the Mesa Police Department shortly after midnight on August 6 and was later booked into the Estrella jail facility.
Her case is listed as PF2026130528001, with the second-degree murder allegation classified as a Class 1 felony. Jail records indicate the case has been bound over to Superior Court.
Windley's bond is listed at $1 million.
Court information lists the case with Superior Court Early Disposition Court 5, at 175 W. Madison Street in Phoenix. Her next court appearance is listed for August 12, 2026, at 8:31 a.m.
The investigation into Kevin Windley's death remains ongoing.
The criminal charge against Marcel Windley is an allegation. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
