PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A truck driver was hospitalized after a tire failure sent his vehicle off Interstate 75, where it overturned and caught fire Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 11:10 a.m. on August 21, 2026, near mile marker 280 on northbound I-75.
According to information sent to iSkyNews.com by the Florida Highway Patrol, a single-unit truck driven by a 47-year-old Largo man was traveling north when the vehicle experienced a tire failure.
The driver lost control of the truck, which left the roadway and traveled onto the east shoulder before overturning and catching fire.
Photos from the scene show the heavily damaged truck resting off the highway in a wooded area. Tire tracks can be seen extending from the roadway through the grass toward the crash site. The truck sustained extensive fire damage, with debris and vehicle components scattered around the area.
Pasco County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and worked to extinguish the fire. A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was also at the scene as the crash was investigated.
Despite the severity of the wreck, the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The crash remained under investigation.
