CLEARWATER, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is advising motorists of a full overnight closure of State Road 60 (Courtney Campbell Causeway) beginning Monday night as crews conduct construction work related to a pedestrian overpass project.
According to FHP, all travel lanes on SR 60 will be closed from 10 p.m. Monday, June 1, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, weather permitting.
The temporary closure is necessary to allow construction crews to safely perform overhead bridge work as part of the Courtney Campbell Causeway Pedestrian Overpass Project in Pinellas County.
During the closure, westbound motorists traveling toward Pinellas County will need to use alternate routes. Drivers can take SR 580 (Hillsborough Avenue) to US 19 and reconnect with SR 60. Another option is to travel southbound on Interstate 275 via the Howard Frankland Bridge, exit at Ulmerton Road, then continue north on US 19 toward SR 60.
Eastbound drivers heading toward Hillsborough County will be detoured via CR 611 (Bayside Bridge), then continue onto Ulmerton Road and access northbound Interstate 275 across the Howard Frankland Bridge to reconnect with SR 60.
Transportation officials said advanced warning signs and electronic message boards will be positioned throughout the area to guide motorists through the detour routes. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, reduce speed in work zones, and remain alert for construction crews working overnight.
Officials also noted that weather conditions could affect the construction schedule, and motorists are encouraged to check traffic conditions before traveling through the area.
For additional project information and traffic alerts, motorists can visit FDOT Tampa Bay.
