Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash in Orange County after a 46-year-old Apopka man was struck and killed by an unknown driver who fled the scene.
Orange County, FL. - A deadly late-night hit-and-run crash in Orange County has left a 46-year-old Apopka man dead as Florida Highway Patrol Troopers work to identify the driver responsible.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash happened at approximately 11:26 p.m. on May 18, 2026, near Marvin C. Zanders Avenue and West 17th Street in Orange County.

Investigators say an unknown vehicle was traveling southbound on Marvin C. Zanders Avenue when it struck a pedestrian who may have been lying in the southbound travel lane just north of West 17th Street.
Troopers say the driver did not stop after the collision and continued southbound, leaving the scene.
The pedestrian, identified only as a 46-year-old man from Apopka, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say next of kin have been notified.
At this time, investigators have no description of the vehicle or driver involved, making the case especially challenging as Troopers work to piece together what happened.
Florida Highway Patrol is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information that could help identify the vehicle involved to contact **FHP by dialing 347 (FHP) or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
The crash remains under active investigation.
