Gunshots Erupt Near Kissimmee Neighborhood Park; Suspect in Custody
KISSIMMEE, FL — Families at Country Club Village were met with a terrifying scene late Sunday afternoon after a domestic disturbance escalated into gunfire near a neighborhood park where children were playing.
The Kissimmee Police Department (KPD) responded to a 911 call at approximately 4:41 p.m. regarding a domestic dispute near the intersection of Jack Calhoun Boulevard and Pershing Street. Initial reports indicated an individual was armed and making active threats.

As officers arrived at the scene, the situation took a violent turn. According to KPD officials, two gunshots were heard as units approached the residence. Officers immediately established a secure perimeter, shutting down traffic and ordering residents to remain indoors as they moved to contain the threat.
Witnesses reported a massive law enforcement response as police worked to de-escalate the standoff in the heart of the community. Despite the discharge of a firearm, officers were able to utilize tactical resources to safely take the individual into custody without further incident.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to a local hospital for a medical and psychological evaluation.
"Based on the information available at this time, this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public," KPD said in an official statement.
Remarkably, despite the gunfire occurring in a residential area near a playground, authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported. The scene remained active well into the evening as forensic investigators processed evidence.
Kissimmee Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the dispute. Charges are pending as the investigation remains ongoing.
