Osceola County detectives have arrested a 16-year-old suspect in connection with the deadly shooting of 18-year-old Daedean Anthony Moctezuma-Orland at an illegal house party in Davenport, Florida.

DAVENPORT, Fla. — More than a month after a deadly shooting at an illegal house party in Davenport claimed the life of a teenager, detectives with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office say an arrest has now been made.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened on April 18, 2026, during what investigators described as an illegal house party at 9205 Sommerset Hills Drive in Davenport.

Authorities say 18-year-old Daedean Anthony Moctezuma-Orland was shot and killed while attending the party.

Following an ongoing homicide investigation, detectives arrested 16-year-old Chace Dawayne Mitchell in connection with the shooting.

Mitchell is facing the following charges:

Manslaughter

Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon

Discharge of a Firearm in Public

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Under 18 Years of Age

Unlawful Carry of a Concealed Weapon

The teen suspect was booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center and is being held with no bond, according to investigators. Because the suspect is being processed through the juvenile system, no booking photo was released.

Detectives say the investigation remains active and are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information about what happened at the party to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office or Crimeline.

The tragic case has renewed concerns about unsupervised and illegal parties involving teenagers, where situations can escalate into deadly violence in moments.
