Overturned Tractor-Trailer Snarls Morning Commute on US-301

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A Tuesday morning commute was disrupted for several hours after a tractor-trailer overturned at a major intersection, causing significant roadblocks on US-301.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident occurred at approximately 5:48 AM on April 29, 2026. A 48-year-old man from Tampa was driving the tractor-trailer eastbound on Causeway Boulevard. As he approached the intersection of US-301, troopers say he attempted to make a left-hand turn at a "higher than safe speed."

The momentum of the turn caused the large vehicle to lose balance and overturn, spilling across the roadway.

The crash resulted in a total roadblock for portions of northbound US-301. Law enforcement and recovery teams worked for several hours to upright the truck and clear the scene. The roadway was eventually reopened to traffic at 8:15 AM.

Despite the scale of the accident and the significant damage to the vehicle, FHP confirmed that the driver was not injured during the incident. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
