The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reached out to iSkyNews.com with the following update:
An 85-year-old man is currently being detained in connection with the shooting of his adult son, a man in his 50s.
The suspect, who has been diagnosed with dementia, is being interviewed by detectives. Authorities will determine whether he will be formally arrested or placed under the Baker Act.
The victim is undergoing surgery for his injuries.
Both individuals lived together at the residence. Deputies have responded to the home three times in the past 10 days, including today, for verbal disputes between the father and son.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Westmoreland Circle area at approximately 12:42 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
When deputies arrived, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been released.
Authorities say an elderly man at the residence was identified as the suspect and was taken into custody without incident.
