PCSO Arrests Lakeland Man After Theft Escalates Into Pursuit

LAKELAND, FL — A grand theft investigation in Lakeland quickly escalated into a dangerous vehicle pursuit on March 30, 2026, ending with the arrest of 24-year-old Jesus Bosch of Lakeland, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded after a victim reported that his backpack had been stolen from his driveway. A neighbor witnessed a white Volvo station wagon with a Mississippi license plate pull up, and a man exit the vehicle, grab the backpack, and flee. The witness provided the tag number, helping deputies quickly identify the suspect vehicle. The stolen backpack contained approximately $1,200 worth of items, including keys, a laptop computer, battery packs, and other work-related property.

Deputies soon located the Volvo traveling southbound on Kathleen Road and attempted a traffic stop at Duff Road and Green Road, surrounding the vehicle with multiple patrol units. Investigators say Bosch attempted to drive around a patrol car, then shifted into reverse and rammed a deputy’s vehicle behind him. During the incident, a deputy exiting his patrol vehicle was struck by the driver-side door, suffering minor injuries including a laceration.

Bosch fled the scene at a high rate of speed, heading southbound on Green Road, prompting a pursuit. The chase ended when deputies executed a precision immobilization technique (PIT maneuver), forcing the vehicle into a grassy ditch. Bosch refused to exit the vehicle despite repeated commands and had to be physically removed.

A search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine, cannabis, and drug paraphernalia, along with the stolen backpack in the back seat, which was recovered with all items accounted for and confirmed by the victim. Deputies say Bosch admitted to stealing the backpack while driving through neighborhoods and claimed he did not realize he was being pursued, stating he was under the influence of methamphetamine.

Bosch was arrested and charged with grand theft (F3), resisting without violence (M1), resisting with violence (F3), aggravated assault on law enforcement (F2), aggravated battery on law enforcement (F1), fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement (F3), possession of methamphetamine (F3), possession of marijuana (M1), possession of drug paraphernalia (M1), and keeping a motor vehicle for narcotics use (M1). The injured deputy is expected to recover.
