Motorcyclist Killed in Brevard County Crash at Courtenay Parkway and Duval Street, FHP Says

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. —21-year-old motorcyclist from Cocoa was killed Thursday evening following a crash involving a van at a busy Merritt Island intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:11 p.m. on February 20, 2026, at the intersection of Courtenay Parkway and Duval Street in Brevard County.

According to the official FHP press release, a 2012 Toyota Sienna driven by a 64-year-old Merritt Island woman was traveling northbound on Courtenay Parkway in the left turn lane, approaching Duval Street. At the same time, a 2005 Suzuki GSX1300R motorcycle operated by a 21-year-old man from Cocoa was traveling southbound on Courtenay Parkway in the outside lane.

Investigators say the driver of the van attempted to make a left turn and entered directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle. The front of the motorcycle struck the right side of the van, ejecting the rider from the bike upon impact.

The van driver sustained minor injuries and remained at the scene. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the crash remains under investigation.
