CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — A mid‑morning crash involving a pickup truck towing a boat left one driver with minor injuries Friday after the vessel broke free and came to rest on the roadway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 9:40 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 488 and County Road 495.
Troopers say Vehicle 1, a Ford F‑350 driven by a 63‑year‑old Ocala man, was heading west on CR‑488 while towing a boat on a trailer. As the driver attempted to turn left onto CR‑495, he entered the path of Vehicle 2, a Kia Soul driven by a 29‑year‑old Citrus Springs woman traveling eastbound.
The Kia struck the boat trailer, causing the boat to dislodge and slide onto the highway.
The woman driving the Kia suffered minor injuries but declined transport. The pickup driver was not hurt.
The Florida Highway Patrol identified Sergeant Steve Gaskins as the agency spokesperson for the incident. Troopers continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash.
