Orlando Doctor Sent to Prison After Secretly Injecting Patients with Illegal Silicone
ORLANDO, Fla. — An Orlando doctor who injected patients with illegal silicone oil during cosmetic procedures has been sentenced to federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Middle District of Florida.
Nhan Pham, 55, was sentenced to two years in federal prison by John Antoon II after pleading guilty to receiving and delivering an adulterated medical device in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Pham entered his guilty plea on May 7, 2025, and the sentence was announced by Gregory W. Kehoe.
According to court records, between 2015 and 2019, Pham ordered silicone oil online and injected it into patients seeking gluteal and buttock enhancement procedures. The injections were performed at both his medical office and his residence.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved injectable silicone for body contouring or enhancement and has repeatedly warned the public about the serious health risks and illegality of such procedures.
Investigators say Pham falsely told patients that the substance was “safe,” “natural,” and would dissolve over time. Instead, patients reported severe complications, including sharp pain, burning sensations, inflammation, discoloration, itchiness, soreness, and hardened tissue at injection sites.
The investigation also revealed that on September 24, 2019, Pham offered to perform silicone oil injections on an undercover law enforcement agent, further solidifying the criminal case against him.
The case was investigated by the FDA Office of Criminal Investigations and the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshals Service. The prosecution was handled by Diane Hu.
Federal officials continue to warn the public to thoroughly research cosmetic procedures and providers, emphasizing that unapproved substances can cause permanent injury or death.
