ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A rescue call in North Orange County ended with five tiny passengers finding permanent homes after deputies discovered a group of kittens on railroad tracks.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Uniform Patrol deputies working in North Orange County rescued five kittens from the railroad tracks on Thursday.
But the rescue didn’t end when the kittens were carried to safety.
The Sheriff’s Office says all five kittens were adopted by deputies who were at the scene, turning the unexpected rescue into five new additions to law enforcement families.
Photos shared by the agency show the kittens apparently wasting little time getting comfortable with their rescuers, including several perched on deputies’ uniforms and tactical vests.
Now They Need Names
There is just one piece of unfinished business: the kittens still need names.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community to help, inviting residents to submit their best name suggestions for the five newest members of the deputies’ households.
The agency had not announced the circumstances surrounding how the kittens ended up on the railroad tracks.
For five kittens facing a dangerous situation, however, the day ended about as well as it possibly could: rescued from the tracks, carried to safety and sent home with the very deputies who came to help them.
