Deputies Set Up Perimeter at Poinciana Community Park After Armed Robbery Report

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office have established a perimeter at Poinciana Community Park following a reported armed robbery involving a juvenile suspect Saturday night.

According to information provided by a 911 caller, the incident occurred at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, while a victim was playing basketball at the park. The victim reported that a suspect riding a scooter stole his backpack, which allegedly contained a firearm and a necklace.

The victim then confronted the suspect, at which point the suspect reportedly pulled a gun on him before fleeing the area.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 14 years old, last seen wearing all gray. Authorities say the suspect took off on an e-bike scooter.

Deputies remain on scene as they search the area and work to determine whether the suspect is still nearby. No injuries have been reported at this time.
