Jeep Lodged Under Semi in Serious Causeway Crash

CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater Fire & Rescue crews responded to a serious crash Tuesday night in the westbound lanes of the Courtney Campbell Causeway, where a Jeep collided with a semi-truck, leaving the driver trapped inside the vehicle.

According to Clearwater Fire & Rescue, firefighters worked quickly to stabilize the scene and extricate the driver from the damaged Jeep. Once freed, the driver was transported to a Tampa-area hospital as a trauma alert due to the severity of injuries.

The crash caused significant damage to the Jeep, which became lodged beneath the trailer of the semi. Emergency crews remained on scene for an extended period while patient care and roadway safety operations were conducted.

No additional information on the driver’s condition has been released at this time. Authorities have not yet announced whether any citations were issued or what led up to the crash.

Motorists traveling along the Courtney Campbell Causeway experienced delays as emergency responders worked the scene.
