Gilbert Remembers Fallen Officer Lt. Eric Shuhandler 16 Years After Line-of-Duty Death
GILBERT, AZ — Sixteen years ago today, the Gilbert community lost one of its own.
Lieutenant Eric Shuhandler of the Gilbert Police Department was shot and killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop on January 28, 2010. His death sent shockwaves through the department and the community he served, leaving behind a legacy of courage, dedication, and selfless service.
Lieutenant Shuhandler devoted his career to protecting others, answering the call to serve with integrity and bravery. His sacrifice is one that continues to be remembered not only within law enforcement, but throughout Gilbert and beyond.
In honor of his life and service, Gilbert’s Water Tower will be lit blue tonight, a powerful symbol of remembrance and respect for a fallen officer whose commitment will never be forgotten.
As the years pass, the memory of Lieutenant Shuhandler remains etched in the hearts of those who knew him, worked alongside him, and those who continue to benefit from his service.
