Heavy Police Presence at Publix in Davenport; Bomb Squad Responding
DAVENPORT, FL — The Haines City Police Department is actively investigating a potentially dangerous situation near the Publix at 39883 Hwy 27 in Davenport, prompting a large law-enforcement response Friday evening.
According to authorities, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle believed to be involved in a previous accident. During the stop, officers observed multiple weapons and ammunition in plain view inside the vehicle. Investigators believe additional weapons may still be concealed within the car.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Tampa Bomb Squad has been requested and is currently en route to conduct a full safety sweep of the vehicle and surrounding area.
Residents are urged to avoid the Publix shopping center and use alternate routes while the investigation is underway. Police have not released additional details about the driver or whether any arrests have been made.
