Two-Vehicle Crash Injures Three and Causes Traffic Delays at Power Road and Southern Avenue Friday Evening

MESA, Ariz. — A two-vehicle collision caused significant traffic delays along Power Road and Southern Avenue around 7:00 p.m. Friday evening, leaving three patients injured.

Mesa Fire and Medical crews from Engine 209 and Ladder 209 responded to the scene, along with Mesa Police. Firefighters located three patients with non-life-threatening injuries and began treatment. Ladder 209 was dispatched as a precaution due to leaking fuel reported in the intersection.

To ensure a safe working area for responders, Mesa Police temporarily blocked all northbound lanes of Power Road. For approximately 10 minutes, officers diverted northbound traffic eastbound onto Southern Avenue. The left turn lane from Southern Avenue onto northbound Power Road was also shut down.

By about 7:15 p.m., traffic started flowing again through the No. 2 and No. 3 northbound lanes. Apache Sands Towingarrived to remove both vehicles, each showing airbag deployment, which allowed all lanes to reopen fully.

No additional injuries were reported, and the scene was cleared shortly afterward.
