Fatal Rollover Crash on 202 Red Mountain Near Gilbert Road Leaves One Dead
Mesa, AZ — A tragic single-vehicle rollover crash on the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway left one person dead Wednesday morning around 9:00 am and caused major traffic delays near Gilbert Road.
According to Mesa Fire & Medical, the vehicle rolled several times in the westbound lanes just west of Gilbert Road before coming to rest. Emergency crews confirmed the driver died at the scene.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) shut down nearly all westbound lanes, leaving only the HOV lane open. Traffic quickly backed up as troopers and fire crews worked to clear debris and begin their investigation.
Drivers are urged to use alternative routes until the freeway fully reopens.
