National, USA - DoorDash has confirmed it was the target of a recent cyber attack that allowed an unauthorized third party to access personal information belonging to some users. The company says it quickly shut down the intrusion, but not before basic account details were exposed.

According to a DoorDash statement, the incident began when an employee was tricked through a social engineering scam — a tactic where attackers manipulate people into giving up access. Once the threat was detected, DoorDash’s security team immediately cut off the intruder’s connection, launched a full investigation, and contacted law enforcement.

What Data Was Exposed?

DoorDash says the accessed information varied from person to person, but may have included:

  • First and last names
  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Physical addresses

The company stresses that the attacker did not gain access to financial information, Social Security numbers, driver’s license data, or any government-issued IDs. They also say they’ve found no evidence so far that the stolen data has been used for fraud or identity theft.

Who Was Affected?

The breach impacted a mix of customers, Dashers, and merchants whose data is stored by DoorDash.
Users of Wolt or Deliveroo were not impacted.

DoorDash says it notified affected users wherever required and set up a dedicated call center for anyone with questions.

How DoorDash Is Responding

In the wake of the breach, DoorDash says it has already taken several steps to prevent something like this from happening again:

  • Rolled out new security tools to detect and block similar attacks
  • Increased employee training to help workers recognize scam attempts
  • Brought in outside cybersecurity experts for deeper analysis
  • Turned the case over to law enforcement for further investigation

The company apologized for the concern the incident may cause and says protecting user privacy remains a top priority.

What Should Users Do?

DoorDash says no sensitive data was involved, and they have no reason to believe the exposed information is being misused. Still, they encourage users to stay alert for suspicious emails or messages asking for personal information — a common tactic after data breaches.
