Scottsdale, Arizona (iSkyNews.com) — The Scottsdale Police Department (SPD) has been awarded two grants from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for Fiscal Year 2026 to support efforts aimed at improving roadway safety across the city.

The Speed Awareness Grant (#2026-PTS-064), totaling $60,000, will allow SPD to enhance public education campaigns on the dangers of excessive speed and reckless driving. Meanwhile, the Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Grant (#2026-405g-011), worth $55,000, will fund both education and enforcement initiatives focused on protecting pedestrians and cyclists—particularly in high-traffic areas such as Scottsdale’s entertainment district.

Officials say the funding comes at a critical time as serious and fatal traffic collisions continue to be a major concern in the community. By expanding awareness programs and targeted enforcement, the department aims to reduce these incidents and improve safety for all road users.

“Ultimately, the funding and awarding of these grants will help us reach our goal to decrease the number of collisions on our roadways and increase community safety,” the department stated.

Both grants will go into effect at the start of the 2026 fiscal year, with initiatives expected to roll out citywide in the coming months.
