Phoenix Police Release Video of Wild Pursuit and Officer-Involved Shooting in Downtown Area
Phoenix, AZ (iSkyNews.com) — The Phoenix Police Department has released a Critical Incident Briefing video showing what officials are calling a “dangerous and chaotic situation” that ended in an officer-involved shooting earlier this month.
⚠️ Warning: The video contains strong language and graphic content that may be disturbing to some viewers.
According to Phoenix Police, the incident began on the evening of October 10, 2025, when two patrol officers responded to a call for service near 4th Avenue and Osborn Road. As they arrived, they suddenly heard gunshots nearby.
Witnesses pointed them toward an alley behind an apartment complex, where officers spotted a man standing outside a black passenger car with a rifle resting on the roof. Officers gave commands for him to drop the weapon, but he ignored them, grabbed the rifle, and jumped into his car before speeding away.
Police say the man then drove through several Phoenix neighborhoods while firing his weapon from inside his moving vehicle. Tactical units joined in as the chase continued, with officers tracking the suspect across city streets.
The pursuit ended near 16th Street and Portland Street, where police used a tactical maneuver to stop the vehicle. When officers approached, one of them saw the suspect reaching for a weapon inside the car. That officer fired his duty gun, hitting the man.
Officers, along with a K-9 unit, moved in and pulled the suspect from the car. They immediately began providing first aid until firefighters and paramedics arrived.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police confirmed that no officers or community members were hurt. A rifle and handgun were recovered from inside the vehicle.
The officer who fired the shot has been with the department for more than eight years and is assigned to the K-9 Unit.
The shooting is now being reviewed through two investigations — a criminal investigation by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and an internal review by the Phoenix Police Department to determine whether policies and laws were followed.
Officials say no conclusions will be made until both investigations are complete.____
