Head-On Collision Shuts Down Pine Tree Trail in Davenport
DAVENPORT, Fla. (iSkyNews.com) — A serious head-on collision brought traffic to a standstill Wednesday night on Pine Tree Trail near Ernie Caldwell Boulevard in Davenport, Florida.
According to Polk County Fire Rescue and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 8:48 p.m. and involved multiple vehicles. Responding agencies included more than three Polk County Sheriff’s Office patrol units and several Polk County Fire Rescue units — Battalion Chief 002, Engine 38, Medical Rescue 30, Medical Rescue 38, Medical Rescue 230, TE020, and Tower 033.
Upon arrival, firefighters reported both vehicles had sustained heavy damage and that multiple patients were involved. Additional medic units were quickly dispatched to the scene, and all patients were transported to a local hospital. Their conditions remain unknown at this time.
Both northbound and southbound lanes of Pine Tree Trail were completely shut down as emergency crews worked to treat the injured and clear the roadway. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately an hour, attending to the victims and securing vehicle hazards before turning the scene over to law enforcement.
As of 10:20 p.m., Polk County Sheriff’s deputies remained on site as tow trucks removed the two heavily damaged vehicles.
