Brooksville Man Killed in Head-On Collision on U.S. 41 Near Deer Run Road

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL (iSkyNews.com) — The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Friday afternoon, October 24, 2025, around 4:00 p.m., on U.S. Highway 41 near Deer Run Road.

According to FHP, Vehicle 1, a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a 48-year-old Brooksville man, was traveling northbound on U.S. 41 when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered onto the outside shoulder of the roadway. The driver then over-corrected, crossing the centerline and entering the path of Vehicle 2, a Dodge Ram pickup driven by a 39-year-old Weeki Wachee man heading southbound.

The two vehicles collided nearly head-on, causing significant damage to both trucks. The Brooksville man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Dodge Ram sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Troopers say the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is unknown at this time whether impairment or speed were factors.

U.S. 41 in the area of Deer Run Road was closed for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigators reconstructed the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate this tragic incident.
