APACHE JUNCTION, AZ – The Apache Junction Police Department is investigating a tragic crash that claimed two lives early Saturday morning near South Goldfield Road and East Old West Highway.
According to police, the collision occurred on September 20, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m. when a vehicle carrying one adult male and one juvenile left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Emergency crews from the Apache Junction Police Department and Superstition Fire & Medical Rescue responded to the scene. The adult male, believed to be the driver, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The juvenile passenger was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries but later passed away.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances that led to the crash.
Due to the collision, northbound and southbound lanes of Goldfield Road north of U.S. 60 remain closed. Police advise motorists to avoid the area and use Mountain View Road or Tomahawk Road as alternate routes. Officials expect the closure to remain in effect for the rest of the day.
