SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ – A Rural Metro Fire crew went above and beyond the call of duty this week when they stopped to help an elderly couple stranded on the side of the road.
According to Rural Metro Fire San Tan Valley, Engine 841 was returning from a training exercise when firefighters noticed the couple dealing with a flat tire. Without hesitation, the crew pulled over and jumped into action.
In what witnesses described as a “NASCAR-style pit crew tire change,” the firefighters quickly replaced the flat and had the couple safely back on the road in no time.
Officials praised the team for their professionalism and community spirit, noting that the firefighters exemplified what it means to serve — both on and off duty.
“Our appreciation for professionally representing above and beyond the call of duty,” the department shared.
