Mesa PD Responds to Tire-Stabbing Call, Teen Hospitalized After Struggle With Police

Mesa, AZ — A juvenile was arrested Thursday evening following a reported family disturbance near 1935 S Sunnyvale in Mesa that escalated into a physical altercation with Mesa Police.

According to Mesa Police, officers were dispatched around 6:00 PM in response to a family fight call for service. The caller alleged that their juvenile son was stabbing the tires of their vehicle.

When an officer arrived on scene and attempted to contact the juvenile, the individual reportedly began fighting with the officer. After a brief struggle, the juvenile was taken into custody.

Police say the juvenile sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The officer involved was not injured, and no additional individuals were reported harmed.

The incident remains under investigation. Mesa PD has not released further details regarding potential charges or the juvenile’s identity due to age-related privacy protections.
