High-Speed DUI Chase Ends in Arrest Near Flagstaff — Driver Had BAC Twice the Legal Limit

Flagstaff, AZ (August 4, 2025) — A wild ride through northern Arizona came to an abrupt end this week when a driver, clocked at 118 MPH, led state troopers on a high-speed chase before turning down a dead-end road and giving up.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a Highway Patrol Trooper tried to stop a black sedan for speeding — not just a little over, but nearly double the posted 65 MPH limit. Instead of pulling over, the driver decided to run.

The chase didn’t last long. The car exited the interstate and turned onto a dead-end road, where the driver finally surrendered without a fight.

Troopers quickly suspected the driver might be impaired. A breathalyzer confirmed it — his blood alcohol content was 0.183, which is more than twice the legal limit in Arizona.

The driver was arrested on the spot and booked into Coconino County Jail on charges of DUI and felony flight from law enforcement.

🚨 Reminder from AZDPS:

  • DUI = JAIL
  • Felony Flight = JAIL
  • Drinking? Don’t Drive. Call a rideshare, a taxi, or have a sober friend take the wheel.

This case is another strong reminder: one reckless decision behind the wheel can land you in handcuffs — or worse.

Stay safe out there, Arizona.
