Tempe Road Rage Shooting Leaves One Dead, Suspect Arrested for First Degree Murder – Police Need Your Help

Tempe, AZ — A violent road rage confrontation turned fatal in Tempe on Tuesday afternoon, July 1st, 2025, leaving one man dead and another facing serious felony charges.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., officers with the Tempe Police Department, along with crews from the Phoenix Fire Department, responded to reports of a shooting near Warner Road and Priest Drive.

Upon arrival, first responders located a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Steven Bevan.

The alleged shooter, identified as 46-year-old Dustin Jackson, remained on scene and was taken into custody without further incident. Authorities confirmed that young children were present in both vehicles involved in the altercation, but fortunately, none of the children were harmed.

Following an initial investigation, Jackson was booked into jail on charges of:

  • First Degree Murder (Class 1 Felony)
  • Drive-By Shooting (Class 2 Felony)

His booking number with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is G189769.

The Tempe Police Department is urging any witnesses or individuals with additional information about the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
