Wildfire Near Prescott Valley Homes Contained Thanks to Rapid Emergency Response
PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ — Emergency crews were called out Sunday to a fast-moving wildland fire in the Prescott Ridge subdivision, where flames threatened multiple homes after a fence welding spark ignited dry brush in the area.
The fire scorched approximately 10 acres of grass and vegetation and came dangerously close—within 30 feet—of nearby homes. Fueled by dry conditions and shifting winds, the fire spread quickly before crews could get it under control.
Firefighters from Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA), Prescott Fire Department, and the U.S. Forest Service – Prescott National Forest responded swiftly. With the help of a CAFMA drone providing aerial views and real-time hotspot monitoring, crews were able to quickly establish a perimeter and halt the fire’s progress.
Local law enforcement, including the Prescott Valley Police Department and Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, assisted in securing the area and ensuring residents were kept safe.
Thanks to a highly coordinated multi-agency response, no homes or structures were lost.
Officials are reminding the public to use extreme caution when welding, grinding, or operating machinery outdoors during fire-prone conditions.
