Nearly 1,000 Distracted Driving Citations Issued in Arizona in Just 1 Month

PHOENIX, AZ (iSkyNews.com) — If you’re reading this while driving—stop. In just one month, Arizona Highway Patrol State Troopers issued 999 citations and 345 warnings for distracted driving, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS).

The data, collected between June 21 and July 21, 2025, highlights a growing concern: drivers looking at their phones instead of the road.

Officials are urging drivers to go hands-free, use Do Not Disturb modes, and keep phones out of sight while behind the wheel.

“You can’t prevent an accident if you’re doom-scrolling at the wheel. Eyes up and phone down,” the department emphasized.

Distracted driving continues to be a top cause of serious crashes statewide. AZDPS says staying alert behind the wheel can save lives—not just your own, but everyone on the road.
