Low Pressure System Could Bring Heavy Rain to Florida and Gulf Coast Next Week
July 12, 2025 — Meteorologists are keeping a close eye on a developing area of low pressure offshore the Southeastern U.S. coastthat could bring heavy rainfall and minor flooding to Florida and parts of the Gulf Coast next week.
The National Hurricane Center has given the system a low (20%) chance of forming into a tropical depression as it tracks westward across the Florida peninsula and into the western Gulf of Mexico by late next week.

Even without formal tropical development, the system is expected to:
- Bring frequent thunderstorms
- Create local flooding, especially in low-lying areas
- Stir up rough surf and rip current risks along coastal beaches
📍 Areas at Risk:
- Central and South Florida: Most vulnerable to daily storm activity and flooding
- Western Gulf Coast: Potential for impacts late next week
🌀 System Details
- Current formation chance: 20% over 7 days
