Pedestrian Killed, Woman Critically Injured After Hit-and-Run Crash in Orange County

Orange County, FL – A tragic hit-and-run crash in Orange County Thursday night left one man dead, a woman critically injured, and a driver on the run, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8:59 p.m. on March 19, 2026, near the intersection of Lee Road and Adanson Street.

Investigators say a 2021 Lexus ES was traveling eastbound on Lee Road when it suddenly veered off the roadway, striking a raised center median. At the time, an adult male in a wheelchair, an adult female, and a dog were positioned on that median.

The vehicle struck all three.

The impact proved fatal for the male victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The dog was also killed. The female pedestrian was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Debris from the crash, including parts of the wheelchair, also struck a 2006 Toyota Tacoma that was stopped in a nearby turn lane. The driver of that vehicle, a 20-year-old man from Orlando, was not injured.

Following the crash, the driver of the Lexus fled the scene, continuing eastbound on Lee Road. Troopers later located the vehicle abandoned in a nearby parking lot with damage consistent with the collision.

At this time, investigators are working to determine who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. The identity of the deceased victim is still pending notification of next of kin.

Florida Highway Patrol confirms this remains an active criminal investigation.
