High-Speed DUI Crash Damages Two Patrol Vehicles, Ends in Arrest in Buckeye
TOLLESON/BUCKEYE, AZ — A reckless driver sparked a dramatic pursuit across the West Valley early Monday morning, reaching speeds of 95 MPH in a 65 MPH zone on eastbound I-10 before slamming into two Highway Patrol vehicles and ultimately being taken into custody in Buckeye.
Arizona Department of Public Safety reported that the pursuit began in Tolleson after troopers attempted to stop the vehicle for criminal speeding. The driver failed to comply and attempted to flee—not once, but twice. During the second attempt to evade law enforcement, the suspect rammed two marked patrol units before being intercepted on Verrado Road in Buckeye.
Despite the crash, the driver continued to defy officer commands. Troopers deployed PepperBall rounds to safely subdue him. He was then arrested and booked on multiple felony charges including aggravated DUI, felony flight, aggravated assault on officers, and criminal damage.
