Afternoon Crash in Mesa Sends One to Hospital, Shuts Down Northbound Power Rd.
MESA, AZ — It was a chaotic afternoon for drivers in Mesa after a two-vehicle crash shut down a busy stretch of Power Road near McKellips, drawing a full response from Mesa Fire and Medical and Mesa Police.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m., first responders arrived to find one person seriously injured but alert. Mesa Fire crews evaluated everyone involved, ultimately transporting one patient to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
👨⚕️ Photos from the scene show paramedics treating a patient seated near the entrance of a shopping plaza—home to stores like Target, ULTA, and Burlington. Emergency personnel worked quickly and calmly, wearing protective gear as they managed care in full view of passing traffic and shoppers.
🚗 One vehicle, a black Nissan Altima SL, appeared to suffer significant rear-end damage with its bumper torn off and laying in the street. The car was later hauled away by a flatbed tow truck, which arrived around 3:31 p.m.. By 4:00 p.m., Mesa Police had fully reopened northbound Power Road.
As traffic continues to pick up in East Valley neighborhoods, officials urge drivers to stay alert and cautious—especially near retail and high-volume areas.
