Spring Hill, FL — A tragic early-morning collision claimed the life of a 36-year-old Spring Hill woman after her vehicle was struck at an intersection by a Hyundai SUV that ran a stop sign, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The crash occurred around 2:00 AM at the intersection of Lema Drive and Spring Hill Drive. Troopers say Vehicle 1, a Hyundai Santa Fe driven by an 18-year-old man from Port Richey, was heading southbound on Lema Drive when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign.

As the Hyundai entered the intersection, it struck the left side of Vehicle 2—a Chevy Malibu driven by the Spring Hill woman who was traveling eastbound on Spring Hill Drive.

Following the impact, both vehicles veered toward the southeast portion of the intersection. The Malibu continued forward, ultimately crashing into a utility pole and a nearby tree.

The 36-year-old driver of the Malibu was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released pending family notification.

The driver of the Hyundai and two female passengers, aged 17 and 18—both from Spring Hill—suffered minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash. It is not yet known whether impairment or speed played a role.

FHP urges all drivers to exercise caution at intersections and always obey posted traffic signs.
