Mesa, AZ — A high-speed pursuit ended in dramatic fashion late Saturday night after a driver in a bright pink Dodge Charger led Arizona Highway Patrol troopers on a dangerous chase, weaving through traffic at speeds exceeding 120 MPH on Interstate 10.

Troopers initially attempted to stop the vehicle for reckless driving, but the driver refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit that quickly escalated. With assistance from Phoenix Firebird and Mesa Falcon helicopter units, the suspect’s location was tracked from the air as they fled the freeway and headed off-road into the desert.

In an apparent attempt to lose both troopers and the aerial units, the driver exited the highway and drove deep into a remote desert area. But the bold move didn’t work—the suspect was located shortly after abandoning the vehicle near a “No Trespassing” sign and was taken into custody without further incident.

Photos from the scene show the Charger dusty and damaged, nestled among desert brush with its trunk popped open, highlighting the dramatic conclusion to an already wild night.

Authorities confirmed that the driver now faces multiple charges, including:

  • Criminal Speeding — Jail
  • Reckless Driving — Jail
  • Fleeing Law Enforcement (Felony) — Jail

As the Arizona Department of Public Safety put it:

Driving your Charger into the desert to get away from a helicopter = ???

🌵🚓🚁 Justice caught up—by road and by air.
