Peoria, AZ — Arizona Highway Patrol troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning along the Loop 101 near Peoria Avenue that left one car heavily damaged and served as a stark reminder about distracted driving.
According to Arizona DPS, a black Mercedes sedan had become disabled and was safely parked on the right shoulder of the freeway near the Peoria exit. Moments later, a Chrysler minivan veered out of its lane to the right, crashing into the disabled vehicle.
Photos from the scene show severe front-end damage to the minivan and extensive rear damage to the Mercedes, which appeared crushed from the impact. Debris littered the road and shoulder as troopers and emergency responders arrived to assist those involved.

At least one person sustained injuries and was treated on scene or transported to a local hospital. The exact extent of the injuries has not been released at this time.
The crash occurred in clear weather and daylight conditions, and DPS is investigating distraction or inattention as potential contributing factors.
Authorities are reminding all drivers to stay alert and avoid distractions—especially when approaching stopped or disabled vehicles.
