MESA, AZ – Heath Kevin De Rosier, 50, a man known affectionately as "Ironman" for his vibrant spirit and dedication to the local motorcycle community, succumbed to injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle collision on Friday, April 25, 2025. He passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering camaraderie.
The fatal incident occurred around 7:30 PM at the intersection of Higley Road and University Drive, in front of the Circle K gas station. According to the Mesa Police Department, the crash involved a vehicle that failed to yield while making a left turn. This vehicle struck De Rosier's motorcycle before colliding with a second vehicle.
First responders arriving at the scene found De Rosier unconscious, not breathing, and suffering from a head injury. Mesa Fire & Medical crews immediately began lifesaving chest compressions and declared him a trauma code. He was transported in critical condition to Banner Desert Hospital, where he later died.
His son, Seth De Rosier, confirmed his father's passing, stating, "My dad, He was the motorcyclist at Higley and University. He has passed on yesterday due to the crash."
Mesa Police have confirmed that impairment was not a factor in the crash for the vehicle that failed to yield. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing, and northbound traffic at the intersection was shut down for several hours following the incident. Officers were seen conducting a field sobriety test on one of the drivers involved. Mesa Fire & Medical also reported three other patients with non-life-threatening injuries from the scene.
Born on October 29, 1974, Heath De Rosier was remembered in an obituary as "a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was a shining example of love, dedication, and community spirit."
A talented metal fabricating artist, De Rosier was deeply involved in his community. He served as vice president of the nonprofit organization Down N Durdy, which is dedicated to helping injured motorcyclists—a cause tragically close to home. He was also a proud son of the American Legion Riders at Post 27.
Known for "his loud and commanding presence," the obituary described Heath as "both an enforcer and a protector, yet beneath that strong exterior was a tender heart full of love." It highlighted his unique gift for making people feel valued, noting, "when Heath spoke to you, it was always all about you."
His selflessness forged countless deep friendships. Heath’s proudest accomplishments were his roles as an amazing dad and grandfather. He lived by the motto, "It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission," a testament to his bold spirit. "We all think we are immortal, but Heath lived as if he really was," the tribute read.
