GILBERT, Ariz. — A peaceful Gilbert neighborhood was disrupted Monday afternoon as police and fire crews responded to a death investigation at Ashland Ranch Park, located near 2346 S. Ashland Ranch Road.
According to a Gilbert Police Department Official, detectives are investigating the apparent suicide of an adult male at the park. Emergency crews were dispatched just after 3:00 p.m., prompting a large response from Gilbert Police, Gilbert Fire & Rescue, and Chandler Fire.
The park was immediately closed to the public, and yellow police tape now surrounds the scene. A red Toyota sedan was observed in the parking area with its doors open, shattered glass, and personal belongings scattered nearby after firefighters gained entry into the vehicle. Multiple units from the Gilbert Police Crime Scene Unit were actively working the scene.
In addition to local authorities, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded and is assisting with the investigation.
Police have not released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin. As of 4:45 p.m., the investigation remained ongoing, and officials confirmed that the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the suicide are still under investigation.
Community members are asked to avoid the area as law enforcement continues their work.
